Arizona has a lot of great OHV trails. Sure, we may not be Moab-level, but we hold our own when it comes to places to wheel. And while trails really are sprinkled throughout the state, none may be more beautiful than those in Sedona.
One of the most popular trails in Sedona is Broken Arrow, and for good reason. There are many reasons to love Broken Arrow. Here’s why we think you should.
1. The Red Rock Scenery
Broken Arrow is a short trail overall, but that’s not a bad thing because it gives you time to take a million photos as you go. Seriously, this place is a knock-out when it comes to views! Just look at some of the photos we snapped on our visit.
2. a Perfect Amount of Obstacles
Broken Arrow is a moderate trail, but it’s still packed with obstacles to keep things interesting. The most notable obstacle is the Devil’s Staircase. The trail is one-way in parts, so you typically hit this obstacle going down. And you just may use your rock sliders and skid plates on the way down.
3. Plenty of Places to Get Out and Explore
We typically stay in our Jeep most of the time we’re trailing, but Broken Arrow offers lots of opportunities to get out and take in some more seriously stunning scenery!
But of course, the most beautiful trails have their downfalls. Here are two reasons why Broken Arrow may not be for everyone.
1. It’s Full of Tourist Jeep Tours
I’ve never seen a trail so full of tours! The Pink Jeeps are everywhere at Broken Arrow, and paired with the usual wheelers, this makes the trail a pretty busy one. We found all the Pink Jeep drivers to be courteous, but they still really fill the trail up.
2. Some People Hate that 4x4s are There
Michael and I didn’t experience this, but I’ve read about it on trail review sites and Jeep forums. Some non-Jeepers really believe no one should be driving on Sedona’s beautiful red rocks, so there’s always a chance you could have a less-than-pleasant run-in with one of those types.
But…
Despite those two negatives, we firmly believe there’s no better way to experience Sedona. While we’d been there many times pre-Jeep, running Broken Arrow made us fall in love with Sedona in a whole new way. We’ll certainly be back!
