Last weekend, we headed out to the Table Mesa area just north of Phoenix to grab the newest Jeep Badge of Honor and try our hand at one of the hardest trails in the area.
First things first, we checked in on the very boring dirt road that is Table Mesa Road solely so we could get our Badges. I’m not exactly sure why Jeep chose Table Mesa Road as a Badge of Honor, but I’m convinced the team there just hates Arizona. Despite having tons of amazing trails all throughout the state, Jeep selected Table Mesa Road and Schnebly Hill Road as our only two trails “worthy” of a Badge, and both are the most boring/easy trails we’ve ever done. But I digress…
The real treat for the day was Lower Terminator (TV2). We heard stories about Upper and Lower Terminator long before we made it up to Black Canyon City to try them out. And boy were we in for a wild ride!
Lower Terminator is a difficult-rated trail, but luckily for us, there are a few difficult lines on every obstacle to chose from. A few of the obstacles will put you really off-camber, and with 300lbs of overland gear on our Jeep, that’s typically not how we’re trying to be. There was one spot in the trail where we legitimately thought we might rollover. And then another obstacle, White Line, that we had to skip to avoid tipping right into a canyon wall.
Luckily, I got it all on video…
Overall, we had a blast in the Table Mesa area. We will definitely be back to try our hand at Upper Terminator, maybe just not with the rooftop tent making us so top heavy…
