Water-Front Camping On Lake Powell [Coordinates]

This past weekend, Michael and I, along with our friends Tina and Dustin, packed up the Jeep and headed north to Lake Powell. We wanted a lake-front camp spot with a little privacy, and we found that on Warm Creek Bay in Utah’s Glen Canyon Recreation Area.

The coordinates for this spot are: 37.053825, -111.445772

You can get to this spot via Crosby Canyon Road. There are a bunch of off-shoots to the lake after you get through the canyon, but we found that the further down you go, the more private you get. This particular spot required a little bit of navigation through deep sand, including one hill which was fun to get up and down, especially considering we arrived after dark. This is a free, dispersed campsite with no amenities.

The spot was perfect! The sand on Lake Powell is so fine, and the water was the perfect temperature. There were some houseboats across the lake from us, and a few a ways down the shore from where we camped. But nearby, the beach was incredibly private the whole time we were there.

During our two-night stay, we saw jackrabbits, cranes, ducks, toads, bats, and heard coyotes after retreating to our tents for the night.

Four-wheel-drive is required for this spot. If you don’t have four-wheel-drive, I believe Lone Rock Beach is a much easier spot to get to, but it also looked like a much busier spot due to its ease of access.
